Kohima, Aug.11 (EMN): Around 524 fraudulent beneficiaries of Prime Minister Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) have been detected from 10 districts and sub-divisions in the state.

In a press conference on Thursday, Agriculture Production Commissioner, Y Kikheto Sema said that the registration of 524 bogus beneficiaries have been cancelled, adding that he has also directed all the DAOs and SDAOs to initiate recovery and identify fake beneficiaries in all the remaining districts and sub-divisions. Further, he also asked the ineligible farmers to surrender their cards.

Sema said that the bogus beneficiaries detected would be replaced by genuine farmers.

The PM-KISAN welfare scheme was launched on February 25, 2019 in the state to provide eligible farmers INR 6000 per year, as a means of income support. This fund is transferred directly to the farmers’ account in three installments from the Ministry of Finance.

He appealed to all the concerned administrative officers and village councils for their co-operation in certifying genuine farmers and assisting them in opening their bank accounts.

Further, he also extended appreciation to all the district and sub-division officers for painstakingly working for the welfare of the farmers, particularly in identifying the bogus PM-KISAN beneficiaries.

As of August 10, 2022, altogether 2,02,113 farmers have received a total of INR 3,16,12,16,000. Meanwhile, the e-KYC done so far is 1, 51,365, which is 74.89% against the total beneficiaries — one of the highest e-KYC verified beneficiaries in the country.
