Dimapur, March 4 (EMN): The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) has approved in principle to build about “500 km of more highways” in order to mitigate the huge connectivity deficit of eastern Nagaland and remote districts.
This was informed by PRO to the governor of Nagaland, RN Ravi, through a press release on Thursday.
The proposed highways — North-South corridor in eastern Nagaland between Mon and Avangkhu and East-West corridor connecting Tuensang, Noklak, Kiphire and Zhunheboto to Dimapur — “will be the game changers for our people living in remote districts”, press release from Raj Bhavan stated, while thanking Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari.
‘Following in principle approval of these highways, the National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited has commenced preparation of detailed project reports (DPR),’ read the press release.
It added that the MoRTH had assured the governor “of fast pace progress on all their road projects in Nagaland”.
