Ward 14 emerged as the champions in men’s football and women’s volleyball at the 4th Kohima Town Inter-Ward Tournament held at Kohima Local Ground.
Ward 14 defeated Ward 16 in men’s football to lift the title, while the women volleyball team downed Ward 15 to emerge as champions.
The men’s football champions pocketed Rs. 35,000 along with citations, while the women’s volleyball champions walked home with Rs. 20,000 and citations. Ward 16, the runners-up team in football received Rs. 25,000, while the women’s volleyball runners-up Ward 15 were given Rs. 15,000.
The winners of band singing competition Ward 17 fetched a cash award of Rs. 20,000, while the runners-up Ward 2 received Rs. 15,000. The winners and runners-up on women singing competition also were given Rs. 20,000 and Rs. 15,000 respectively.The closing function of the six-day tournament was graced by Rovilatuo Mor, Deputy Commissioner, Kohima, as the guest of honour. He also gave away the prizes to the winners.
The DC, in his address, encouraged for more of such competitions which not only promotes games and sports, but also creates a platform for mutual understanding and oneness amongst the denizens of Kohima.
He stressed on promoting unity and oneness among the citizens of Kohima with the objective of making Kohima a better place to live in.
