400 cadets participate in 10-day NCC camp in Wokha
DIMAPUR — The 10-day Combined Annual Training Camp (CATC) of the National Cadet Corps (NCC) concluded in Wokha on August 10.
The camp was attended by 400 NCC cadets and Associated NCC Officers (ANOs) from various colleges and schools in the southern districts of Nagaland.
According to a press release, the group commander of the NCC Group in Nagaland inaugurated the camp and exhorted the cadets to take advantage of the opportunities offered by the NCC.
Held at an Assam Rifles battalion, the camp exposed cadets to the regimented life of soldiers. In addition to basic military skills such as drill, physical fitness, weapon training, and map reading, the cadets were also introduced to contemporary issues, including disaster management response, firefighting, drug menace, skill development initiatives in Nagaland, and opportunities in the armed services.
Stating that for most school students, the NCC camp represented their first exposure to communal living and training in a quasi-military setting, the release noted that it was a valuable opportunity for the cadets to grasp the essentials of the NCC—unity and discipline.
