37th PDSA: Huluyi D Vadeo is arm wrestling champ
Kohima: Huluyi D Vadeo representing Centre Chakhesang Sports Association (CCSA) emerged as the arm wrestling champion on day-three of the 37th Phek District Sports Association (PDSA) meet at Chozuba Town.
20-year-old Vadeo beat Basayi Keyho representing the Phek Area Sports Associated (PASA) in the final match with two straight wins. Earlier, Vadeo put down prominent sports personality Vechita Khesoh in the semi-final to let the latter settle for a bronze medal.
In women’s arm wrestling, Jopolhulü Shijoh won the first gold medal for Sekruzu Area Sports Association (SASA) defeating Shodulu Swiho of Chokri Area Games and Sports Association (CAGSA) in the final match, whileMesüte-u Kapfo of Khezha-Kuzha Tephe Sports Association (KKTSA) won the bronze medal.
Football update
In men’s football, Seceku Range, Centre Chakhesang, Chokri Area, Khezha-Kuzha Tephe, Chozuba Area, Tizu Area, Phoyisha Area, Phek Area have entered the quarter final round.
Defending champion Centre Chakhesang Sports Association beat Sekruzu Area by a solitary goal in the first half, ending the campaign for Sekruzu team saga for the football event.
While in women’s football, Centre Chakhesang defeated Chokri Area by a solitary goal and Khezha-Kuzha Tephe overcame Phek Area 2-1 to enter the semifinal round. Seceku Range beat Sekruzu Area 1-0 and Chozuba Area defeated Tizu Area by a solitary goal to enter the semifinal round.
On Friday, SRSA will take on Phoyisha Area in the first match, KKTSA will take on PASA in the second match, CASA will play against CCSA and the fourth match will be played between TASA and CAGSA.
In the women’s semi-final, the first match will be played between CCSA and KKTSA and in the second match, SASA will take on CASA.
Volleyball update
CAGSA, Khezha-Kuzha Tephe Sports Association (KKTSA), Chozuba Area Sports Associated (CASA) and Seceku Range Sports Association (SRSA) advanced to the semis on day-three.
In the semi-final round, CAGSA will take on Seceku Area and Chozuba Area Sports Association will play against Khezha-Kuzha Tephe Sports Association (KKTSA) in the second semifinal match.
Chozuba Area leading medal tally
Chozuba Area Sports Association (CASA) added a bronze medal on Thursday to continue leading the medal table tally with 24 medals (11 gold, six silver, eight bronze).
CAGSA is in the second position with 27 medals (eight gold, 15 silver, four bronze) and Centre Chakhesang Sports Association moved ahead of Phek Area Sports Association in third place with nine medals (four gold, three silver and three bronze).
