37th National Games: Manipur clinch 2 gold, 1 bronze on day-12
IMPHAL — Manipur won two gold and a bronze medal in judo and canoeing and kayaking disciplines on Monday at the ongoing 37th National Games hosted by Goa.
With Monday’s medal addition, Manipur’s medal tally currently stands at 27 gold, 19 silver and 24 bronze and occupies 5th position in the overall medal tally after Maharashtra, Services, Haryana and Karnataka, as per hand information received from Goa till the filing of the report.
It was also a great day for the state in the men’s semi-final football match as they edged past Punjab 2-1 in normal time. The men’s football team will now face Services on November 8.
Manipur’s judoka M Indubala (78kg) and T Ingungnganba (70kg) bagged a gold medal each, while L Abungo L Sunjest, O Arun and A Priyobarta secured a bronze medal in men’s 500 m canoeing and kayaking.
