DIMAPUR: A day-long Inner Line Permit (ILP) verification drive was carried out in Kohima town on Tuesday by the district administration and police to detect illegal immigrants and ILP defaulters. During verification, cases of expired ILP and some without valid pass were detected and accordingly, penalties were imposed as per the Bengal Eastern Frontier Regulation (BEFR), 1873.
A total of 325 ILP defaulters were detected, a total amount of INR 1,20,000 was realised as penalty after verification of all required documents, which will be deposited as government revenue, an update from DPRO Kohima informed.
It said the Special Task Force constituted for ILP verification will be conducting periodic checking for detection of illegal immigrants and ILP defaulters. The verification drive was conducted as directed by the Deputy Commissioner of Kohima, it added.
