3 new dengue cases detected in Dimapur
DIMAPUR — Three new dengue cases have been confirmed in Dimapur district during the first week of August, bringing the total cases in the state to eight this year.
District Vector Borne Diseases (DVBD) consultant for Dimapur, Peter Sangtam, confirmed that the cases were identified through Elisa testing at Dimapur District Hospital.
Two cases were reported within Dimapur’s urban areas, while the third originated from Diphupar – B village. All three patients are currently receiving treatment at home, he said.
These new cases were detected after five were reported in Kohima earlier this year.
Emi, DVBD consultant in Kohima, said that two cases were reported in February, followed by one in May and two in July. While those patients have since recovered, one individual tragically passed away due to unrelated health complications.
Meanwhile, Dr. Abenthung Murry, District Vector Borne Officer at Mon District Hospital, confirmed that no dengue cases have been reported in Mon district as of Monday.
As a precautionary measure, citizens have been advised to use mosquito nets while sleeping, apply mosquito-repellent creams, and eliminate any stagnant water accumulation around homes and communities. Wearing long-sleeved clothing can provide added protection against mosquito bites, according to health experts.
