Tseminyu, Mokokchung, Phek and Niuland register win

Tseminyu, Mokokchung, Phek and Niuland districts registered wins on the second day of the ongoing held 2nd Nagaland Olympics and Paralympic 2022 football event held at Indira Gandhi Stadium (IGS) on Thursday.

In the first match scheduled to be played between Indira Gandhi Stadium (IGS) Kohima and Kiphire, Tseminyu team were awarded a walkover and the officials declared a 2-0 win in favour of Tseminyu.

In the second match, Mokokchung beat Noklak 2-0 goals with Imnatoshi scoring the first goal in the 33rd minute and Temsuyanger netting in another goal after the lemon break.

The third match between Phek and Chümoukedima was a thriller with both sides putting up a spirited fight till the end. Phek’s Johny Ritse scored the first goal in the 20th and ten minutes later Rhitso Mero chipped in another goal for his time. Chümoukedima’s S Alex Rio saved his team the blush in the first half with a goal in the 32nd minutes.

After the breather, Chümoukedima’s Thanglamhau scored a goal to level the scoreline. However, Phek’s Rhitso Mero scored another goal to take his team to a 3-2 win.

In the final match, Niuland beat Longleng 2-0, the goals coming through the boots of Hevika in the 21st minute and Mughapu in the 36th minute, respectively.

  • Fourth match – Zunheboto vs Dimapur (03:30 pm)
