DIMAPUR — The Foundation Day of the states of Mizoram and Arunachal Pradesh was celebrated on Tuesday at Dr. Imkongliba Ao Hall, Raj Bhavan, Kohima, with Nagaland Governor La. Ganesan as the special guest.

The programme, celebrated under the banner of the Ek Bharat Shrestha Bharat, witnessed participation from the Nagaland Mizo community and citizens from Arunachal Pradesh residing in Kohima, an update from Raj Bhavan stated.

The governor, in his address, said that the day signifies more than the birth of two sister states as it is also a celebration of the unity in diversity that is the very fabric of the country.

Ganesan said that the central idea of Ek Bharat Shrestha Bharat is to recognise, respect and revel in the rich tapestry of cultures that adorn the country, from the snow-capped peaks of Arunachal to the lush green hills of Mizoram, and that each is vital to the integrity of the nation.

He mentioned that Mizoram is renowned for its vibrant culture and melodies that resonate with the ethos of peace and tranquility. He also said that Arunachal Pradesh, the ‘Land of the rising sun,’ and the state where the first sun rise hits India, stands majestic with its diverse heritage and is a testament to the serene beauty of nature and human spirit.

The governor reminded them that regardless of geographical boundaries, all states are bound by the spirit of India.

He further informed that the door of Raj Bhavan, Kohima, is always opened to every citizen from every state and union territories residing in Nagaland, and that they can come anytime to meet him.

Lalthara, former Chief Secretary of Nagaland, who is also the president of the Nagaland Mizo Welfare Association, thanked the governor for his generosity and hospitality in hosting the programme in honour of the two states. He also highlighted the history of the Mizos and their state.

During the programme, video presentation along with short greeting messages from the governors of Mizoram and Arunachal Pradesh were also screened. Cultural items were also presented during the programme.
