Dimapur, March 6 (EMN): A total of 1930 new male recruits passed out of the parade ground of the Assam Rifles Centre and School (ARTC&S) at Shokhuvi on March 4. The special attestation parade marked the completion of 44 weeks of grueling training in battle craft, weapon handling, jungle lane shooting and other specialisation in counter insurgency operations.

The passing out parade was reviewed by Lt. Gen. PC Nair, Director General Assam Rifles (DGAR), in the presence of Brig. SK Sheoran, commandant of ARTC&S, and other senior officers of the Indian army and the Assam Rifles, 281 parents and various local civil dignitaries.

Addressing the recruits, the DGAR highlighted the rich history of the Assam Rifles as the oldest paramilitary force of the country and its diversified role. He called on them to inculcate all the aspects learnt during their training and work towards becoming good soldiers of the battalions.

He also congratulated them and added that they should uphold the traditions and values of Assam Rifles during their entire service, an update from ARTC&S stated.

It stated that the newly passed out riflemen (male soldiers) would now join their respective units in all frontline duties and continue to serve the country.
