19 new Covid-19 cases, 1 death recorded in Nagaland

Dimapur, Oct. 22 (EMN): As many 19 new Covid-19 cases were detected in Nagaland on Friday, taking the tally to 31,689 while the active caseload declined 245 following recuperation of 21 patients.

The state’s death toll increased to 663 with one fatality reported in the last 24 hours, while the cumulative recoveries rose to 29,738.

According to an update from the department of Health and Family Welfare, 15 positive cases were reported in Dimapur, and two each in Kohima and Wokha on Friday.

Out of the 21 new recoveries registered in the last 24 hours, 16 were reported in Dimapur, three in Mokokchung, and two in Kohima.

Nagaland currently has 245 active Covid-19 cases, out of which 185 are asymptomatic, 45 mild, nine moderate on oxygen, three severe on oxygen, one in ICU without ventilator, and two in ICU on ventilator.

In regard to district-wise distribution of active cases, Dimapur has the highest number with 125, followed by Kohima- 45, Tuensang- 30, Mokokchung- 22, Longleng- 8, Wokha- 8, Mon- 3, Peren- 2, Kiphire- 1 and Phek- 1, while Zunheboto is currently Covid-free.

15786 new cases, 231 deaths in India

Meanwhile, India recorded a single-day rise of 15,786 new Covid-19 cases, taking the tally to 3,41,43,236, while the active caseload declined to 1,75,745, the lowest in 232 days, following 18,641 recoveries in the last 24 hours, according to data provided by the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on Friday morning.

The country’s death toll has climbed to 4,53,042 with 231 daily fatalities, while the total recoveries increased to 3,35,14,449 at 98.16% recovery rate, which is highest since March 2020.

The ministry updated that the weekly positivity rate stands at 1.31% and daily positivity rate at 1.19%. It added that 100.59 crore vaccine doses have been administered across the country so far.
