12th Rangsina Sarpo Film award: Serdihun wins best feature film

DIPHU: The Cultural Affairs under Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) awarded the 12th Rangsina Sarpo Film award and Rangsina Sarpo Folk Artist award to various artists at Langkung Habe Auditorium, Matipung on Tuesday.

Altogether, 23 awards were awarded to artists from Karbi Anglong including Mohindra Engti (70) of Den Arong and Kanam Beypi (77) of Borpung for best male and female Rangsina Sarpo Folk Artist Award.

The prizes were handed over by KAAC, EM in-charge of Art and Cultural, Surya Rongphar. They have been given a cash prize of INR 10,000 with citations.  

Attending as chief guest, KAAC, Executive Member in-charge PHE, Mongolsing Timung said, “The Art and Cultural department has taken the initiative to promote folk artists of the new generation in order to understand and to commemorate the Karbi folk musician Rangsina Sarpo holistically”.

Moreover, Surya Rongphar, EM i/c Art and Culture, who attended the event as the guest of honour, said, “The award was given after thorough screening by the screening committee. This is the 12th edition of the Rangsina Sarpo Film Award, every year the Art and Culture department has organised the event in order to promote new emerging artists.”

 He also appealed to all the film enthusiasts who make feature, short films, documentary films and song composers to make films or who write songs that have a link or root with the community because the film is part of one medium.

‘So, the films should be made in such a way that people adopt and follow a link irrespective of culture, tradition, language and dress,’ said Rongphar. 

The screen committee members for Rangsina Sarpo Film Award, 2023 were Rajib Kro (Chairman) Sarthe Terang (member)  Jibon Teron (member) Chandrosing Dera (member) Sashikala Hansepi (member) Bindu Terangpi (member) and Dipali ,Amphi Chetia (member).

The programme was attended by KAAC, EM Prabhat Chandra Taro;  MACs Johny Timung, Avijit Kro; KCS President Chandrasing Kro; KLA president Barim Engti; Padmashree Dhaneswar Engti;  Joint Director Cultural Affairs , Rani Terangpi; KAAC ,TCRO Dilip Kathar; KMTCRI Principal, Bonsam Kathar and others.

7. Best supporting Actor (Male): Dilip Bey (Film; Serdihun)

8. Best supporting Actor (Female): Rengka Engtipi (Film; Serdihun)

9. Best Actor (Male): Bijoy Lekthe (Film; Artu)

10. Best Actor (Female): Kiran Engtipi (Film; Artu)

11. Best script/ screenplay: Bhaity Engti (film; Artu)

12. Best Art Director: Borsing Teron & Longki Teron (Film; Serdihun)

13. Best comedian: Sodar Engti (Film; Klir Ningve)

14. Best Film Editor: Bapuram Ronghang (Film; Klir Ningve)

15. Best make-up: Jitu Saikia (Film; Serdihun)

16. Best Actor Negative Role (Male): Nigam Ronghang (Film; Artu)
