Zunheboto district forms no tobacco club

Students being administered a pledge against consuming tobacco products during the launch of Zunheboto district no tobacco club on Saturday.

DIMAPUR —The Zunheboto district no tobacco club comprising members from Cornerstone Higher Secondary School, Immanuel Higher Secondary School and Olympic Higher Secondary School was formally launched on Saturday at Cornerstone Higher Secondary School with its motto “Rejuvenation.”

The main motive of the club was to create awareness about the harmful impact of tobacco and to encourage and stop people from consuming those addictive and harmful tobacco products, stated an update issued by media cell of no tobacco club.

Dr. Esther Chopy Ngullie, who was the special guest of the launch programme, spoke on the importance and advantages of leaving tobacco substances. She has appreciated the students for setting up such club in the district, which was one among the first club in the entire state.

She also spoke about the harmful effects of consuming tobacco and how it could cause deadly diseases. She encouraged the club to organise awareness programmes in the district to make people aware of all the harmful impact of tobacco.

Vito Achumi, associate pastor, while speaking at the event, appreciated the students for taking up such good initiatives. Informing that the churches are trying to create awareness on tobacco, he has asked the club to collaborate with the churches in organising such events.

He further advised the public to should stay away from all those substances.

A song was presented by Naga Kheks during the programme.
