Dimapur, Feb. 21 (EMN): Zeliangrong Baudi (N) Nagaland, Zeliang People Organisation and Zeme Council (N) have opposed the proposed indefinite chakka bandh ‘within the ancestral land boundary of Zeliang Naga’ from Feb. 22.

In a joint statement to the commissioner of Nagaland, the civil society organisations of Peren district claimed that the imposition of the proposed bandh has been called by “unknown illegal Aqahuto area organisations” on Mhainamtsi-Pimla and Mhainamtsi – Jharnapani road.

“It is to be made crystal clear to everyone that there is no area called Aqahuto in the above mentioned areas within the ancestral Zeliang Naga land who shared traditional and time honoured boundary with Chakhro Angami lest the term ‘Aqahuto’ being borrowed from other parts of the state in total disregard to the customs of the traditional landowners Chakhro Angami and the Zeliang,” it read.

It said that the civil organisations “pursued and engaged on inter-tribal organisations to bring about permanent trust between communities for peaceful coexistence by bringing about due honour to each other’s customs as Naga family”.

However, it stated that the ‘illegal organisations’ are “blocking both the routes of accessibility” to the district.

It has therefore urged the state government authorities to prevent such activities in the district.
