WSKH appeals for improvement of New Showuba-Seithekima road

Dimapur August 3 (EMN): The Western Sumi Kukami Hoho, the organisation of the village chiefs, has on Thursday urged the PWD department (Roads & Bridges) to ameliorate New Showuba-Seithekima Road as it is the only road communication for the villages beyond Chathe River post the collapse of the 4th Mile bridge.
The WSKH felt that the “concerned department is neglecting the road” as it is still in deplorable condition causing inconvenience to commuters stated the WSKH general secretary, Kuhovi Zhimo.
He also said the department had “dumped sand gravel” on road on one occasion and since then the business owners of the effected villages had been engaged in maintaining the road.
“The WSKH appeals to the concerned department to understand the hardships being faced by the people and to act upon it.” stated the press release.
Meanwhile, Hoho also lauded the efforts of the Joint Action Committee for 4th Mile Bridge to construct a temporary suspension bridge. It also informed that the construction works for the new suspension bridge has commenced with the department providing the requirements while the Joint Action Committee the manpower.
