Dimapur, Aug. 26 (EMN): A three day workshop for government school teachers got underway on August 26 at the Don Bosco campus in Dimapur. The workshop will culminate on August 28, updates stated.
CAN Youth, the organisers, issued a press release on Monday giving details about the programme.
The workshop is organised by CAN Youth in collaboration with the Azim Premji Foundation, District Education Office of Dimapur, and the Aida, the updates stated. Altogether 20 teachers from 10 government schools in Dimapur district are attending the workshop, the organisers said.

‘Education is one of the most important things than can bring a sustainable growth in our society,’ they were told.
A brief introduction of Azim Premji Foundation was delivered by Bijoy Sankar Das of the Azim Premji University.

‘The role of the teacher is to mould (sic) students into a well-knit group by showing the way and influencing them by guiding them in their thinking, and to take full responsibilities to lead and guide the students to success in their life,’ he said.

The press release also mentioned Assistant District Educational Officer Asangla, no surname given. She spoke about the importance of life skills and how teachers can use life skills to educate students through extracurricular activities, the updates stated.

Asangla urged the teachers to take up topics of problem solving, critical thinking, and decision making, among others. She mentioned that life skills must be ‘implemented in every school’ to make students more confident and to help them develop good skills, the press release stated.

The officer was stated to have acknowledged CAN Youth for working in the education sector and helping to build the concept of education practically through the involvement of various stakeholders, the updates stated.

The workshop offers activity and fun-based learning emphasising on the topics of class management, understanding behaviour and attitude of students, and teaching of subjects through life skill based activity, the updates stated.
