Dimapur, Feb. 10 (EMN): Alleging discrepancy in the recruitment of police personnel, the Naga Tribal Union Chümoukedima Town (NTUCT) has announced its decision to ‘thwart’ training of new police recruits at Chümoukedima Town under PTS and NAPTC.

In a statement issued on Monday, the union cited information from “a reliable source” that training of about 1200 new police recruits would begin from February 14, and “accommodation facilities for such a capacity was already arranged as per physical verification”.

However, it stated, except for the “208 candidates who were selected through an open recruitment rally” conducted on November 15, 16 and 18, 2019, “no other candidates will be allowed to take part in the upcoming training”.

The union asked the authority concerned to “satisfactorily justify as to when and where such a large majority of the recruits were selected through an open recruitment rally”; and clarify with facts and figures for public consumption.

“Be it known that we have nothing against our youth who were selected, but any backdoor appointment shall not be allowed. We also have no grudges or any ill feelings against (sic) any authority, but firmly stand to oppose the violation of norms and established system,” read the statement.

Further, it requested the state government to put on hold the ‘proposed training indefinitely’ until the ‘confusion is settled’.
