Dimapur, July 3 (EMN): The Wokha unit of the Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP) is pleased at the People’s Democratic Alliance government’s ‘strong decision’ to extend the Inner Line Permit (ILP) across Nagaland including Dimapur district.

The NDPP unit issued a press release to the media on Wednesday welcoming said development, while also urging people including non-Nagas to ‘feel at home’ but maintain peace and harmony.

The press release stated: ‘The Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party, Wokha region strongly support and appreciate the PDA government strong decision to extend ILP in the entire state of Nagaland including Dimapur district under the visionary and farsighted leadership of chief minister of Nagaland Neiphiu Rio and his colleagues…’

This was based on ‘genuineness and recommendations of Abhishek Singh Committee’s reports, considering the rights upon the life, liberty, properties and fundamental rights of the non-Nagas living in Dimapur and in other parts of the Nagas inhabited areas in Nagaland.’

The press release stated that the Naga people had always been by naturally ‘accommodative’ and had ‘spirit of oneness with their guests since time immemorial.’

The unit therefore requested non-Nagas residing in Dimapur district and other Naga-inhabited areas ‘by the Indian citizens’ not to be ‘discouraged,’ but instead feel at home and to ‘have the feeling of brotherhood and oneness with the Nagas.’

The unit urged them to cooperate with the PDA govt. in Nagaland “in order to maintain peaceful co-existence with the Nagas as long as they remain in Nagaland.”
