Wokha administration organises seminar on wellbeing of girl child

Dimapur, Nov. 17 (EMN): Under the ‘Beti Bachao Beti Padhao’ social scheme, the Wokha district administration organised a one-day seminar on the ‘wellbeing of girls with special emphasis on menstrual hygiene’ at Town Hall, Wokha on Nov. 17.
Addressing the seminar, Wokha DC, Dr. Manazir Jeelani Samoon stressed on the importance of educating girl child so that the child can be empowered to become a productive member of the society as a successful individual and contribute to the society for others to emulate.

The Wokha district administration, in order to encourage and motivate the girl child, has also recently started a ‘local champion campaign’ where the district administration will take steps to promote those who perform well in examinations or in any other field.

The resource persons — Dr. Nounenuo Terhase, gynaecologist and Mhonchumi Humtsoe, ex-president Lotha Eloe Hoho — enlightened the gathering on the importance of maintaining proper menstrual hygiene.
The president of the Lotha Eloe Hoho (Lotha women’s organisation), Zuchobeni also delivered a short speech during the seminar.
