We have nothing to do with election, says Akato-led NSCN
Dimapur, Dec. 16 (EMN): The Akato Chophi-led NSCN/GPRN has once again stated months ahead of the Nagaland Assembly polls that “we are up for ‘Solution’ and not ‘Election’ and will have nothing to do with the Election”.
A press release issued by the MIP of the group also reaffirmed once again that it is “in the ambit of ceasefire mechanism”, as declared on November 19 2021, while stating that it was formed out of necessity and not due to the unfortunate split in the NSCN (R) that had signed a ceasefire agreement with the government of India.
It added that ‘it will be in solidarity and in concordance with the WC-NNPG in order to push for a Naga solution’.
While expressing its optimism on its declaration to join hands with the WC-NNPG and ‘anticipating the best’, it also made a clarion call to its members to be prepared for any eventualities “in the event of any issues that may arise out of such decisive matter”.
The group also took a dig at the United Naga Council (UNC) over its press release dated 30th May 2022, which reportedly asked: “What is the hurry now when we have already taken so many years?”
“The NSCN wholeheartedly acknowledges that each and every individuals with Naga blood running in their veins, whether they are from Arunachal, Assam, Manipur or Myanmar have suffered the brunt of the Naga National Movement (hereafter NNM), however the present state of Nagaland was the epicentre of NNM,” it stated, but added that the citizens of the state suffered much more and they want nothing but a peaceful solution to the protracted Naga political issue.
