WDLSA organises legal awareness campaign

Dimapur, October 18 : Wokha District Legal Services Authority (WDLSA) today organised legal awareness and literacy campaign in Longsa village and another session with the Wokha district Auto Union.
The legal awareness and literacy campaign at Longsa village community hall was chaired by Lichani M Tungoe, retainer lawyer.
WV Patton, Secretary of Wokha District Legal Services Authority, delivered the opening remarks stating that legal awareness and literacy campaign was carried out to reach the unreached and common people with the purpose of spreading awareness on legal service schemes and the basic lessons on legal aspects. Resource persons and legal aid counsel-cum trainers, Limhathung Ezung spoke on “Rights and privileges of accused/ FIR/ bail/ role of defense counsel,” while Esther K Aye, spoke on “Consumer awareness & Food Security Act,” and Limasenla Longkumer spoke on “Welfare schemes for women/ people living with disability.”
Later, an interaction session was conducted with the participants of the programme. Some of the issues taken up during the interaction included Mid Day Meal Provision, MGNREGA Scheme, Student Scholarships and Rice allocation under National Food Security Act.
In another session, WDLSA organised a legal awareness and literacy campaign with the Wokha District Auto Union (WDAU) at Lotha Tribal Council (LTC).
David Ezung, panel lawyer of Wokha District Legal Services Authority, chaired the programme and introduced on the topics for discussion to the participants.
Resource person WV Patton, Secretary WDLSA, in her opening remarks, highlighted on the purpose of the legal awareness programme and apprised the participants on the legal service schemes.
Resource persons, Limhathung Ezung spoke on “Salient features of MACT/ traffic offences under IPC and MV Act,” while Esther K Aye spoke on “Schemes benefits & social security for unorganized sector,” and Limasenla Longkumer spoke on “Legal aid and role of DLSA.”
During interaction session, issues related to auto registration and various government schemes were clarified by resource persons.
A total of 105 members of Wokha District Auto Union participated at the programme.
