DIMAPUR, OCTOBER 31

The Western Angami Women Organisation (WAWO) and Western Angami Students’ Union (WASU) have vehemently condemned the alleged rape of 80 year-old woman on October 25 evening in Jotsoma village under Kohima district by two youths namely Adu Nakro, son of Zuhukho Nakro of Thenyizou village and Vezhohu Resuh, son of Vehureh Resuh of Pholami village.
WAWO in a press note issued by its general secretary Kevino Kuotsu, while condemning the shameful act, said the action of the two youths is sadistic and has maligned the chastity of the victim. The women organization also demanded from the government and law enforcing agencies to award the severest punishment to the culprits. While appreciating the colony youths of Jotsoma village and the law enforcing agencies for having book the culprits, WAWO also appealed the law enforcing agencies not to grant bail under any circumstances at this stage to ensure that the investigation process is not hampered.
“Any lackadaisical or leniency shown on the part of the law enforcing agencies will encourage recurrence of such crimes in the future,” the condemnation note stated adding that it will extend its fullest cooperation to the law enforcing agencies in curbing such menace in the society and further to fully support the due process of law.

WASU: In a separate release, the Western Angami Students’ Union (WASU) also strongly condemned the rape incident at Jotsoma village by Kudokhozo (Adu) Nakro and Vezhohu Resuh on October 25.
Terming the act as ‘Shameful’, WASU President Kedoroko Casavi and Info & Publicity Secretary, Petsülhoubei Nagi said such criminals should have no place in the society. The union further said it will fully support the resolution demanded by the Jotsoma Women Organisation in fighting for justice.
The union also demanded the severest punishment to the culprits so that such incident will not occur in future, while it also appealed to all right thinking citizens to condemn such act stating that “it is never acceptable in the society.”
