Wards in Kohima appeal for septage treatment plant

Dimapur, Aug. 3 (EMN): Concern over random discharge of septic tanks into the drains, three wards in Kohima have appealed the department of Urban Development to construct a common Septage treatment plant as the public are facing difficulties due to lack of regular septic services.

In a representation to the Director of Urban Development, the three wards namely Naga Bazaar (Ward 4), Daklane (Ward 7) and New Market (Ward 8) have reminded on the proposal in 2016-17 for construction of a large septage treatment plant at the confluence of the three wards by gathering all the septic discharges and wastes.

The three wards mentioned that it had welcomed the proposal and submitted letters of acceptance to the authority concerned and eagerly looking forward to implementation of the plant. The wards also mentioned that the plant would go a long way in promoting sanitation in the entire region which is now infested with random discharge of septic tanks into the drains. It added that the public are facing difficulties due to lack of regular septic services.

The wards hoped that the project would be taken up without further delay.
