Dimapur, Oct. 23 (EMN): Wakching Town Students’ Union (WTSU), in collaboration with the Wakching block task force, organised a public rally in support of the ‘Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao’ (BBBP) campaign at Wakching headquarters on October 23.
An update from the students’ organisation stated that the rally was attended by students and teachers from all private and government schools under Wakching block as well as village council members headed by council chairmen Methdak, head GB of Wakching headquarters, and Yonglong Chemshe, WTSU president.
The rally started from SDO (C) office to the bus stand at 8 am. It stated that SDO (Civil) Wakching, Relise Sangtam, and the CDPO Wakching, Renchano, spoke in the rally about gender equality in connection with the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao campaign.
It was announced that other literally competitions and seminars for students would be held within a week or two. The block task force had served light refreshments to the students after which a meeting was convened at the SDO (C) office which was attended by public leaders and the student leaders.
