Vocational training programme for women in Peren underway
Dimapur, Jan. 18 (EMN): College of Veterinary Sciences and Animal Husbandry, Jalukie in Peren district is organising a three- days vocational training programme on scientific management practices for livestock and poultry and preparation of milk and meat products.
The training programme is being organised for the Rongmai Baptist Church of Nagaland (RBAN) women from January 18 to the 20th. 15 women are participating in the training programme.
Dr. Gunjan Das, assoc. professor and head, Dept. of Veterinary Medicine and Training Co-ordinator shared that “rural women play a significant role in animal husbandry besides doing their household chores”, an update read.
It stated that the training programme would be beneficial for scientific animal husbandry practices in addition to the training on value added meat and milk products.
Dean, College of Veterinary Sciences and Animal Husbandry, Dr. AK Sangwan in his address to the participants emphasised on the role of women in “livestock management and backyard poultry farming, which is an integral part of the livelihood”.
“He also stated that rural women are well versed with basic knowledge of animal production and management. This training programme will further enhance their scientific knowledge and help them uplift their livelihood,’ it read.
