Villagers in Tuensang receive Covid jabs

Dimapur, June 12 (EMN): Office of the chief medical officer (CMO), Tuensang, conducted a sensitisation on Covid-19-cum-vaccination for 18 to 44 years age group at Lirise and Chungtor villages under Longkhim sub-division on June 10.

An update from the CMO’s office stated that the team was led by MO of Longkhim CHC Dr. Tokughu accompanied by BPM, BAC, FWA, two GNMs, laboratory technician and medical attendant of CHC Longkhim. 

It stated that Dr. Tokughu spoke on the importance of Covid-19 vaccines to prevent its infection. Stating total vaccination could lead to partial/ total lifting of Covid-19 related restrictions, he encouraged the participants to come forwards and get vaccinated and not to believe in rumours.

During the meeting, village council chairman of Lirise village, R Thronglongse, affirmed that all the villagers in his village should get vaccinated to fight against Covid-19.

The team also conducted random sample collection for Covid-19 testing wherein around 20 samples were collected including retest and fresh. It added that a total of 48 beneficiaries from Lirise and Chugtor villages received the first dose of Covid-19 vaccination.

The programme was attended by church leaders, student leaders, government employees, village council chairmen, village health chairmen and staff CHC Longkhim.
