Kohima, April 17 (EMN): The extraordinary situation of the nationwide lockdown due to the novel coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic has prompted various organisations, administrations and government agencies, as well as individuals to come forward, donate and reach out to people in need in the form of cash and kind.

In a unique act of kindness, villagers from Khulazu Basa in Phek district have donated a large amount of fresh vegetables to the people of Chetheba town on Friday. The decision to donate the vegetables came after the former village had learned that the latter had few or no vegetation, said village council chairman of Khulazu Basa, Vechohu Chuzho.

Around 30 women from the village went to the forest and collected varieties of vegetables from morning till noon. The vegetables were then arranged and taken for distribution to the residents of Chetheba town.

Meanwhile, residents of Chetheba town has taken to social media platforms to thank the villagers for their “goodwill gesture”. A resident from the town informed that almost all the households had received their share of relief.
