District level VHC/HCMC Conference on Communitizaton was held on November 27 at Town Hall, Peren. Deputy Commissioner-cum-Chairman (District Health Society), Peter Lichamo, graced the occasion as the chief guest with other dignitaries from the medical department.Invocation prayer was said by Pastor, Peren Town Baptist Church. VHC members from Samziuram sub-center and Ikiesingram sub-center shared their experiences and success story with the coming of communitization.
Addressing the key note address, Dr. Ngangshimeren, CMO briefed on the concept of communitization, the goal, duties, functions and responsibilities of health committees. He highlighted on the importance to have convergence with various set ups at the village level. He stressed on the point to follow the policy, “no work no pay”.
The chief guest in his address expressed his gratitude and acknowledged the medical department. He also urged the VHC members to make the best use of the opportunity given to them. He further added that the resources have been provided and then it was their responsibility to render the best service to the people and in order to improve performance, coordination and cooperation.
“Convergence with the churches, councils and the public in general is the need of the hour.”
He put forward a challenge saying “Let us make Peren as one of the best performing districts in the State”.
Later, awards were given away to the three best performing sub-centers. 1st Prize was bagged by Samziuram s/c, 2nd by Mhianmantsi s/c and the 3rd by Ikiesingram s/c. Altogether, there were 60 participants.
Brief talk was given by Dr. Yartenla, DTO on the RNTCP scenario in Peren district and about vector-borne disease malaria by Dr. Limatula, DPO NVBDCP. The program was chaired by Dr. Tiala, Dy. CMO and vote of thanks by Dr. Khrielasanuo, DPO RCH/UIP.
