Venuzo Dawhuo is Chakhesang Wrestling Association champion

Phek, Feb. 18 (EMN): Reigning champion Venuzo Dawhuo defended his Chakhesang wrestling title by defeating former champion Vevohu Swuro in the final bout to lift the coveted 27th wrestling tournament of Chakhesang Wrestling Association (CWA) at Phek town on Tuesday.

The 24-year-old champion from Thenyizumi village measuring  5.10 feet and weighing 97 kg was also the Chokri Area Wrestling Association (CAWA) champion 2020.

On winning the title, Dawhuo received INR 1,50,000 along with citation, while runner-up, 29-year-old Vevohu Swuro also from Thenyizumi village measuring 6.1 feet tall and weighing 110 kg representing CAWA received INR 1,00,000 and citation.

Another CAWA wrestler Pfüsato Tetseo from K Bawe village won the third position and pocketed INR 80,000 and citation while Vekutho Soho who hails from Phek village representing Phek Area Wrestling Association (PAWA) made it to fourth position and received INR 50,000.

The losing quarterfinalists–Reka Mero (KKWA), Besuhveto Cümu (CAWA), Vechita Khesoh (CRWA), Hukhonieyi Chuzho (CAWA)–were awarded INR 8,000 each.

Meanwhile, the championship for U-16 (junior category) will be held on Wednesday. The tournament is being hosted by Phek Area Wrestling Association (PAWA).

Earlier, the programme was attended by MLA Kuzholuzo (Azo) Nienu as the inaugural guest.
