Diphu, July 27 (EMN): As part of the Azadi ka Amrit Mohotsav to celebrate the commemoration of 75th years of India independence, the APDCL, KANCH Electrical Circle and the district administration of Karbi Anglong organised Ujjwal Bharat Ujjwal Bavishya to highlight the key achievements of the power sector under the umbrella ‘Ujjwal Bharat Ujjwal Bhavishya – Power @ 2047, at Longki Ronghang (Lumbajong Sarpo), Taralangso on Wednesday.

Diphu MLA, Bidyasing Engleng in the presence of Lumbajong Member of Autonomous Council (MAC), Johnny Timung; Deputy Commissioner, Karbi Anglong, Dibakar Nath, and AGM, Diphu Electrical Division, Binoy Langthasa, inaugurated the programme by lighting the inaugural lamp.

MLA Engleng said the Assam State Electricity Board (ASEB) now being privatised into Assam Power Distribution Company Limited (APDCL), through various government schemes has been able to extend electricity to the rural masses. This has been a big challenge for the APDCL.

He also said West Karbi Anglong is generating 100 MW power from Karbi Langpi Hydro Electric Project at Amtereng and another 100 MW power at Dikharu. A power project has started at the upstream of Langso Kangthu river, Longnit, but due to non completion of the project, it could not receive sufficient power.

The MLA further mentioned that to trap solar power energy the Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council has selected the land site for the project.

‘Here at Longki Ronghang village, Taralangso the APDCL has installed a transformer and provides electricity connectivity to every household. The present BJP government is aiming to reach electricity to every household in the country and this has been made possible by the APDCL’, Engleng said.

In receiving electricity connection, the MLA also asked the villagers to sincerely pay their electricity bills so that they receive uninterrupted power supply.

AGM, Diphu Electrical Division, Langthasa in his speech also informed that in Karbi Anglong district 2,952 villages have been electrified under DDUGJY new scheme. Under this scheme, 733 transformers have been installed, 11 KV line of 1133.922 KM and LT line of 1,796.512 KM have been constructed and 49,157 households (on Grid and Off Grid) have benefited in Karbi Anglong and West Karbi Anglong.

Under the SUBHAGYA scheme, 1450 + 252 villages have been electrified. Under this scheme, 259 transformers have been installed, 11 KV line of 302.83 KM and LT line of 489.73 KM have been constructed and 55852+8139 households (On Grid and Off Grid) have benefited in Karbi Anglong and West Karbi Anglong districts.

The programme was attended by District Nodal Officer, DGM NEEPCO, Umrangso, Kamal Bora and AGM (Project) Karbi Anglong, Partha Sarathi Borah.
