Imphal, May 19 (EMN): Emergency meeting of Ukhrul District Working Journalists Association (UDWJA) held at its office on May 18 has unanimously resolved to refrain from giving coverage of the ongoing Shirui Lily on ground of the total sidelining of the association whose members are journalists based in Ukhrul district where the festival is being celebrated from May 16 to 20, by the concerned organising committee despite being apprised of the need for coordinating with the local media personnel.
UDWJA has also taken strong exception to the very manner in which the organising committee is ignoring the association and proceeded without even officially informing the members of the association about the festival’s line up/scheduled events at different venues, let alone extending an invitation. Being left in the dark about all the upcoming events of festival, members of the association have been placed in a tight spot while covering the festival.
In light of the prevailing circumstances with respect to the association members, UDWJA has resorted to boycott of covering of the ongoing state festival.
