Dimapur, Nov. 17 (EMN): Nagaland lost to Manipur by five wickets in the opening match of the men’s U25 State One-day Trophy.

Nagaland , having lost the toss and invited to bat first, could amass 195 runs and was all out in 47.2 overs. Fine knock of 68 runs by Captain Akavi and contributions from Hiketo (32 runs), Sanjay (25 runs) and Tohuka (23 runs) took Nagaland to a modest total, an update stated.

Initially, Nagaland’s top order batsmen played brilliantly but none could capitalise their innings and further no contribution from the tailenders saw Nagaland‘s scoreboard at below par total.

For Manipur, Bikash Singh took three wickets while Bidash, Alfred Hmar and Nitesh claimed two wickets each.

Manipur reached the target in 42.2 overs losing five wickets in the run chase. For Nagaland, Sunil took two wickets while Mynul, Akavi and Tohuka registered a wicket in their names.

The match was played at Nehru Stadium, Guwahati.

Nagaland will play against Arunachal Pradesh on Thursday (Nov. 18) at ACA Stadium, Barsapara, Guwahati at 8 am.
