Tuensang drivers trained on road safety measures

Tuensang District Private Drivers’ Union (TDPDU) has organised Road Safety Awareness cum Flag Day programme on September 17 at Town Hall, Tuensang.Panel of speakers in the first session namely Sanglee, DTO Tuensang, and Bendang Yanger, MVI, spoke on road safety awareness with all the signs through power point and paper presentation as per Motor Act. The speakers have distributed booklet to all the members present in the meeting. The speakers have also asked all the drivers to perform their duty sincerely for the welfare of the public in general. All the rules on Dos’ and Don’t as per the MV Act was also delivered by the speakers.
Sanglee, DTO announced that the Best Driver for 2014 will be awarded with a cash amount of Rs 5000 during the next Flag Day programme.
Speaking on the awareness, Bendang Yanger, MVI (Transport), asked all the drivers to strictly adhere on rules and regulation as laid down in the Motor Act. He said all the drivers should follow the signs where it is placed adding the defaulters will be booked as per the Act. The speaker also advised to immediately file FIR in the event of any accident and also admit the patient to the hospital.
Dedication prayer for drivers and handymen was said by Rev. Ngako Somba, Pastor DEF, during the second session. Exhorting the members, Rev. Ngako Somba said drivers should be dedicated in their duties while performing and never to indulge in intoxications which could harm themselves and the passengers.
The third session, members had conducted a general meeting and also adopted its rules and regulation.
Altogether 162 drivers and handymen have attended the rogramme.
