Tsütuonuomia Khel leads with 9 medals at KVSA meet

Tsütuonuomia (T) Khel fetched nine medals consisting of three gold, three silver and three bronze on day-two to lead the ongoing 65th Kohima Village Sports Association (KVSA) Meet in Kohima.

Pfuchatsumia (P) Khel was placed in the second position currently with four medals (two gold, two silver) in the medal table, while Dapfhütsumia (D) Khel was in third with a gold and the Lhisemia (L) Khel at the bottom with three silver.

The athletic events commenced at IG Stadium on Tuesday.

In the men’s 800 metre race, Kevise Belho of T Khel emerged as the champion. During the day, he created a new record with 2:08:31 minutes against 2:10:17 set by Kikrusilie Kire of D Khel, the previous record holder in 2020.

Petekhrietuo Solo of T Khel came in second position with 2:11:37, while Thejakhrielie Mechülho from L Khel finished in third with 2:12:22.

In the women’s race, Khriezelhounuo Keyho of P Khel emerged as the winner, completing the race with 2:47:13 minutes. The second place was won by Dziesekuonuo Linyü of L Khel and third place by Kelhoulenuo Sekhose from T Khel, who crossed the line with 3:00:41 and 3:04:06 respectively.

In the 4×400 relay race for men, P Khel claimed the first position title, setting a new record with 43:72 second, which beat 45.33 sec, the previous record set by T Khel in 2020. The winning team from P Khel consisted of Nounezelhou Rutsa, Dziesezotuo Rutsa, Petevilie Rame and Kekhriezhanyü Pienyü.

The second position was bagged by L Khel consisting of Mhasiletuo Yhome, Mhalezotuo Dzüvichü, Zasevituo Yhome and Kezevituo Suokhrie.

In the women’s broad jump, Dziesengunuo Solo of T Khel emerged as the champion (4.21m), while Mepfhüo from L Khel won the second position (4.05m) and third position (4.03m) was won by Rüduolhounuo Belho from T Khel.

In the men’s high jump, Neiketoulie Belho became the winner, while Keneitsizo Belho secured the second position, and both equallised the jump of 1.75m each. However, by virtue of the overall performance, Neiketoulie was adjudged the winner. Meanwhile, Keduolhouvolie Solo was declared the third position with 1.70m. All the three jumpers represented T Khel.

In the women’s category, Ruokuosanuo Sachü of D Khel bagged the first position title with a jump of 1.35m, while Dziesengunuo Solo of T Khel and Kelhouneinuo Rutsa from P Khel secured the second and third positions respectively with the jump of 1.30 m each.

On Wednesday, 200m race, 1500m race, 400m race and 4x100m relay race for both men and women would be held at IG Stadium. Long jump and discuss throw for men and shot put and javelin throw for women would also take place.
