Dimapur, Sep. 11 (EMN): The National Tuberculosis Eradication Programme (NTEP) under the establishment of the chief medical officer (CMO), Zunheboto, installed a Truenat machine at CHC Aghunato on September 10.
Dr. Y Aron Muru, district tuberculosis officer (DTO) of Zunheboto, informed that the machine was recently purchased by the NTEP, an update from the CMO’s office stated. He urged the district administration of the sub-division, community leaders and church leaders to disseminate about the new machine to the public of Aghunato sub-division and avail the facility free of cost.
He stated that the machine diagnosis is rapid and extremely accurate which could run up to 32-48 samples of multiple diseases such as COVID-19, tuberculosis, HIV and hepatitis and give out results in two hours.
He gave a brief overview on the causes, symptoms and treatment of tuberculosis and further elaborated on the Pradhan Mantri TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan, which is a nutrition support for TB patients.
Also speaking on the occasion Mhashumi Ezung, EAC of Aghunato, has appreciated the District Health Society in Zunheboto for the effort in bringing the machine in the sub-division. She added that the machine would not only be beneficial for the residents of Aghunato town but also for all the surrounding villages within the sub division.
The programme was chaired by Dr. Kipito Awomi, MO of CHC Aghunato, while the invocation was said by Atovi Chophy, pastor of ATBC (SBAK Nito Mount) and concluded with a benediction said by Vitoho Sumi, pastor of Aghunato (SBAK Aizuto-B).
