Training for female health workers held in Kiphire

Dimapur, June 27 (EMN): Office of the Chief Medical Officer (CMO), Kiphire, conducted a one-day training for female health workers on Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) and Syphilis screening at the CMO conference hall on June 26 with the District Tuberculosis Officer Dr. Hedungkiebe and District Programme Officer Tsiatuvi (DAPCU) as the resource persons.

A press release from CMO office stated that the training was conducted with the main objective to train the female health workers for proper treatment and awareness on HIV and Syphilis.

The welcome address and introduction was said by District Programme Manager, Limawati.

Resource person Dr. Hedungkiebe presented a comprehensive role of ANM staff nurses in handling and diagnosis of HIV and Syphills. He also presented an easy and reliable demonstration on how white blood cells work as safeguard mechanism in a body.

He also highlighted on Syphilis disease which is a sexually transmitted infection and its important preventive steps to fight against the disease.

Basics concepts of HIV/AIDS and Syphilis, differences between HIV and AIDS, immunity and infection game, white blood cells roles and functions and how HIV weakens the immune system and factors affecting progression of HIV infection to AIDS were presented by the resource person.

Another resource person Tsiatuvi also highlighted the benefits of Anti-Retroviral Therapy. She also mentioned that early treatment is safe and effective for mothers and could also saves the baby.

District Programme Manager, DAPCU staffs, IEC personnel, Auxiliary Nurse Midwife (ANM) of different health units attended the programme.
