Traffic regulations during Hornbill Festival

Dimapur, Nov. 30 (EMN): Kohima police has issued a traffic regulations during the Hornbill Festival 2019 at Kohima with effect from December 1 to the 10th.
According to the PRO Kohima police, only vehicles with car passes would be allowed entry at Gate No. I/ main gate of Naga Heritage complex and be parked at the designated parking zones as per car pass allotment. It stated that vehicles with car pass ‘A’ (red with white background) should be parked in the area above the bamboo conference hall, while vehicles with car pass ‘B’ (blue with white background) should be parked in the area inside the WW-II museum complex, and vehicle with car pass ‘C’ (green with white background) should be parked in the parking area near Gate- II. It added that vehicles with “police on duty” sticker would be allowed to enter Gate-I and Gate-II.

To mitigate traffic congestion in Kohima town during the Hornbill Festival, the police would enforce no parking on both sides from Classic Point to PHQ Point, no parking on both sides except for city bus stands from TCP Gate to Phoolbari, and no parking from ‘Y’ Junction to Razhü Point except at old taxi parking, new NST, old NST.

Parking facilities would be provided at Old MLA hostel complex and KMC multi-level parking opposite Popular Bakery, PR Hill.

It informed that entry of heavy vehicles into Kohima would be restricted at inter-state police check gate, Khuzama, from 0800 hours till 2200 hours and entry of heavy vehicles into Kohima town would be restricted at By-pass traffic police booth from 0800 hours till 2000 hours.

Commercial trucks would be restricted to ply in the Kohima town from 0800 hours till 2000 hours with exception to those on Hornbill related duties. All loading and unloading of goods in Kohima town should be completed by 0800 in the morning.

Traffic advisory for night carnival
Police have also made traffic arrangements during the Hornbill night carnival from December 1 to the 10th.

It informed that no vehicle would be allowed to park along the road on the right side from ‘Y’ junction till Post Office. However, single parking would be allowed on the left side at old taxi parking area, old NST only. All vehicles are to be parked at Old MLA hostel complex. Further, parking facilities would also be available at old medical multi-level car parking opposite Popular Bakery, PR Hill.

It stated that no vehicle would be allowed to park along the route from northern gate of local ground till Razhu Point. It warned that any vehicle found parked at the above mentioned area would be towed away and charge would be levied from the vehicle owners.

The road from ‘Y’ junction till Razhu Point would be made one way (down) only and added that no vehicle would be allowed to enter from Razhu Point towards Khouchiezie, Kohima local ground, and from Congress bhavan towards ‘Y’ junction.

The up-going vehicle would ply the normal route through ‘D’ Block.

The traffic regulation would be enforced from 1600 hours till the night carnival/ bazaar is over.
Kohima traffic police has sought cooperation from the public in enforcing the traffic advisory.
