Wokha, Nov. 4 (EMN): Tokhu Emong cum Mini Hornbill festival kick started on Monday at the local ground in Wokha town. The four-day festival of the Lothas will conclude on November 7.
Chumben Murry, MLA, was the special guest at the inaugural programme of the event. He invited the people to celebrate the festival in its true sense, with forgiveness, seeking blessings and creating a vision for the society. He asked the gathering to leave aside the differences and celebrate the festival with forgiveness and a change of mindset.
Murry stressed on the potential for growth of tourism through the festival by exposing the rich culture and identity. He added that assimilation of tradition and fusing it with the present fashion will be the next level for entertainment.
He also said that the present political development with the government of India and Naga political groups was a ‘moment of a joy to celebrate the long struggle as all stakeholders have come to agreement in principles, which has given ray of hope for permanent peace and the signing of agreement will be the dawn of a new era, the beginning of new Naga.
Murry further advised the present younger generation to restrain from misusing social media by creating confusion among the people, as at times some cases become sensitive.
About 70 stalls have been set up at the local ground for the ongoing Tokhu Emong cum Mini Hornbill festival.
