TikTok overtakes Google as most visited website of 2021

Dimapur, Dec. 21 (EMN): In a surprising turn of events, TikTok had a remarkable year as it overtook Google.com as the most visited domain of 2021.

According to a report from Cloudflare, a popular CDN provider, TikTok was the most visited website of 2021 with Google coming in at a close second.

This is very surprising because the top five was regularly dominated by five or six companies including Google, Facebook, Microsoft, Apple and Netflix. However, 2021 seems to have been a breakout year for the short video-sharing platform TikTok and it seems like it has cemented itself as the go to platform for people to visit all year round.

Despite it being banned in multiple countries including India, TikTok has surpassed expectations and it looks like it is here to stay. The results of the Cloudflare report is proof that social media platforms are dominating the entertainment space. Only time will tell if TikTok can continue to keep that top spot as we go into 2022 and beyond.
