Nagaland reports 35% increase in Covid cases

Nagaland reported a 35% increase in new Covid-19 cases in the past week, with increase in Dimapur, Kohima and Tuensang.

However, the weekly positivity rate in the state remained at 3% with a total of 305 cases.

Meanwhile, eight deaths were registered in the past week, all of which were from Dimapur, according to the weekly bulletin provided by the department of Health and Family Welfare.

It said the weekly sample positivity rate has remained less than 5% for six consecutive weeks in the state but Dimapur (5.4%) and Phek (5%) showed an increase in the current week. There were 55 new admissions in Covid-19 hospitals across the state in the week — Dimapur 30, Kohima 14, Tuensang six and Mokokchung five.

 Among Covid-19 deaths, 60% had comorbid conditions (387/646), 19% (125/646) did not have any and 21% (134/646) were not known if they had any.

It stated that 2,816 students between 4-32 years tested positive in 2021 with three deaths among them.

Moreover, 10.17 lakh Covid-19 doses have been administered over 12, 860 vaccination sessions in the state, it added.
