Temjen Toy wants action plan to eradicate HIV/AIDS

Dimpaur, July 5 (EMN): Chief Secretary of Nagaland Temjen Toy said at a state-level meeting with the Committee of Concern (CoC) and Nagaland State Aids Control Society at the Chief Secretary’s Conference Hall that preventive measures should be taken up seriously to eradicate HIV/AIDS in the state.

The Chief Secretary chaired the meeting that was held on July 5, informed an update from DIPR.

Toy called upon the members to prepare action plan for prevention of HIV/AIDS in the state and submit it at the earliest.

According survey conducted between April 2018 and March 2019, 92% of HIV/AIDS infection is through sexual activities with Dimapur district leading with 5.58% followed by Tuensang district with 3.32%, informed the update.

The house also discussed on contingency fund for purchase of emergency drug 1, HIV and AIDS Act 2018, and implementation of the Nagaland State Substance Abuse Prevention And Treatment Policy 2016 and Children living with HIV (CLHIV).
