DIMAPUR — TATA AIA Life Insurance Co. Ltd. has launched a digital classroom initiative in seven government schools in Dimapur, targeting over 3,200 students.
According to a press statement from the company, the three-year project, spanning 2024–2026, aims to revolutionise the learning experience of students by using state-of-the-art digital infrastructure and content.
Kristyl Bhesania, chief human resource officer (CHRO) of TATA AIA, mentioned that the company’s presence in Nagaland extends beyond offering insurance solutions and that, as the leading life insurer in the region, they acknowledge their responsibility to contribute meaningfully to the community’s development.
It stated that the implementation of smart classrooms equipped with audio-visual tools, interactive software, and digital content in subjects including Mathematics, Science, and Social Science would take place across government schools.
Specialised training programmes for educators to effectively utilise digital teaching methodologies would benefit over 168 teachers in Dimapur. There would be collaboration with Teachmint Edutech to create localised digital content addressing the specific educational needs of students in Nagaland.

Provision of essential hardware, including computers, projectors, and connectivity solutions, would create an enabling environment for digital learning.
The project has clearly defined outcomes, including an increase in attendance and enrolment of students, improvement in standardised assessment results over a one-year period, increased adoption of digital hardware in schools, and enhanced usage of digital content and educational tools.
Overall, the initiative is expected to impact approximately 3,267 students in Nagaland as part of a larger project benefiting 4,703 students across Northeast India over three years.
It was mentioned that last year, Tata AIA was selected by the Nagaland government to implement an insurance cover of INR 2 lakh. This scheme aims to provide families with the financial support they need in the unfortunate event of the breadwinner’s demise.
It is specifically aimed at helping vulnerable sections of society, such as those working in unorganised sectors or belonging to low-income groups.
As part of the scheme, any family member aged between 18 and 60 years can be designated as the primary earning member or breadwinner. Government employees within the same age group will automatically be considered the primary breadwinners for their families.
The state government will cover the insurance premium cost.
