Mokokchung, Feb. 13 (EMN):
A self-financed truck to be used for sanitation purposes was flagged off by Sungkomen ward authority on Saturday following a dedicatory prayer pronounced by Rev. O Yashi Jamir, pastor of Sungkomen Baptist Church, in the premises of its community hall.

ADC Mokokchung and MMC administrator, Shashank Pratap Singh, who officially flagged off the sanitation vehicle, said that cleanliness has multiple ramifications for the people adding “cleanliness is next to godliness.”

He also lauded the Sungkomen Ward for the commendable achievement in purchasing its own vehicle to be used for collecting wastes within its jurisdiction. He attributed its accomplishment to the cooperation and support between Sungkomen Ward authority, church and the community.

Singh also expressed hope that other wards too would follow suit to maintain their own sanitation vehicles.

This is the first of its kind under Mokokchung municipality that a ward single-handedly managed to purchase its own vehicle to be used for sanitation work. The sanitation truck, which was flagged off on February 13 was procured with contribution from Sungkomen Ward authority, Sungkomen Baptist Church and well-wishers among the community.
