
Dimapur, Oct. 25 (EMN): With a view to create awareness on the ill-effects of tobacco-related products, DMI St. Joseph Global School conducted an awareness-cum-counselling session for the students from Classes VI to IX on October 25.
The session began with the introduction of the resource person namely Tolino V Zhimomi, head of the Social Science department of the school, an update from the school stated on Friday.
It stated that the resource person made a power point presentation on the cancerous effects of the tobacco-related products. She put forward the facts about how young children and youth are falling prey to tobacco-related products at a very young age. Stating that thousands of people die every day of tobacco related diseases, she cautioned the students to stay away from such substances.
The school principal, T Backiyaraj, stated that the school has been organising a lot of counselling sessions and awareness sessions as part of the school assembly and moral values classes in the school periodically. He added that the school has become a totally tobacco-free campus.
School administrator, Sr. Stella, stated that she has been giving constant counselling to the female children staying in the hostel about the ill-effects of tobacco.
The formal programme was followed with a personal counselling on students.
