Dimapur, Jan. 6 (EMN): Pointing out that thousands of educated Nagas are not disciplined, cultured, well mannered and sophisticated, minister of PWD (Housing and Mechanical), Tongpang Ozukum has encouraged the student community to strive for all round education. He has attributed the lack of those values to many young educated Nagas finding difficulty in finding employment in their chosen professions.

Tongpang stated this during the platinum jubilee celebration of Longkong Village Students’ Union (LVSU) as special guest on January 6. He encouraged them to pursue their quest for knowledge diligently as the world has become very competitive for employment. Noting excessive use of social media by especially youngsters thereby disassociating themselves from the reality, he stressed on the importance of time management.

Stating that the state government is in the process of constituting the Nagaland Staff Selection Board (NSSB), the minister advised them to be ready and not self-defeat before approaching any competitive exams, an update from the press secretary to the minister stated.

“Competition has become very tough for employment both in private and government sector, but meritorious students will always be honoured and chosen”, he stated.

The minister also gave a clarion call to the students to love their nativity and their people as there is only blessings and strength in loving one’s birthplace. At the same time, he asked them to value their mother tongue and preserve it as it is fading away at an alarming rate in this new age of global media domination.
