Strictures against illegal coal mining

DEPUTY Commissioner Mokokchung, Muroho Chotso has informed that reports have been received on carrying out coal mining in Mokokchung district by private/individual operators with non-conformity with the existing provision of law of the state, illegal taxation, collection of money from trucks used in transporting coal and hampering the functioning of Geology and Mining Department from discharging legal duties.In this regard, the Department of Geology and Mining being the nodal agency with respect to coal mining in the District, the office of the Deputy Commissioner Mokokchung has detailed mining Engineer incharge of Mokokchung District Er. Tesinlo semy, along with his staff to check all illegal activities involved in coal mining in the District by taking necessary assistance from Superintendent of police Mokokchung, SDPO Tuli and Mangkolemba, all check gate officials and all concern Administrative officers and directed the team to submit a report to the office of the Deputy Commissioner Mokokchun
g. The concern department is also informed to seize all equipments and vehicles involved in illegal mining with the help of the police.
Further all the licensed mining operators are directed to strictly comply with the Nagaland Mining Rules 2006 and prescribed fees of TP or legal charges whatsoever should be duly paid as per the prescribe rate within the permissible load, failing which penal action would be initiated.
DC Mokokchung further informed that any anomaly in this regard be reported immediately by the concerned officials.
