Stranded people in Zunheboto, Mokokchung head home

Stranded people in Zunheboto board the bus arranged by the district administration for their return to home districts on Friday.

Dimapur, May 8 (EMN): The first batch of indigenous Nagas and students stranded in Zunheboto district, due to Covid-19 lockdown has started their journey back to their home districts. 

On Friday, six buses to Dimapur carrying 96 people, one bus to Mokokchung and Wokha carrying eight each, one bus to Tuensang carrying 15, one bus to Tobu carrying 28 and another bus to Mon travelling via Assam carrying 17, were sent off from Zunheboto local ground, an update from DPRO informed.

All together 172 stranded persons were sent to five districts in a total of 10 buses.

Senior pastor SBCZ, Rev. Dr. S Yevito Sumi sent off the passengers with a prayer and good wishes.

Totilimi self help group of project colony prepared lunch pack for travellers to Tobu under the initiative of district task force and Sumi Kukami Hoho.

In Mokokchung, a total of 287 indigenous Nagas stranded in the dsitrict were sent to different parts of the state in the second phase, from NST station on Friday.

Two buses with 68 passengers left for Dimapur, one bus with 20 passengers to Longleng, three buses with 75 passengers to Tuensang, three buses with 70 passengers to Kohima, and 2 buses with 54 passengers from Changtongya and Tuli.

As per instruction, all the buses were sanitised by the Mokokchung Municipal Council sanitation workers and all passengers were screened by medical staff before boarding.
