Steering down strike against attack on drivers in Manipur

IMPHAL, August 18: Most of the petrol pumps in and around Imphal town could not function as usual as the oil tanker drivers went on strike protesting the attack on their colleagues during the course of an economic blockade in Senapati district.
The oil tanker drivers in Imphal also began to launch steering down strike ion Thursday. Besides they also staged a sit in protest in front of Indian Oil Corporation depot complex at Sangakpham near Imphal.
On Wednesday, one tanker driver Usham Gojen(20) of Khurkhul village of an oil tanker was seriously injured when some of the goods trucks including his tanker(MN01-8656)was stoned by some suspected blockade supporters at Senapati Bazar, about 60 km north of Imphal. Gojen is currently giving treatment in a private clinic in Imphal.
In another development, the economic blockade on the National Highways in the state which was called by the All Manipur Written Test successful candidate of Manipur Police 2013 Batch from August 16 midnight in protest the state government’s failure to declare the Police recruitment result, has been reportedly suspended ‘due to certain unavoidable circumstances.’
