Dimapur, Oct. 21 (EMN): St Xavier’s Catholic Church in Kidima village of Kohima district observed ‘mission Sunday’ on October 21 in the church’s premises. The organisers issued a press release on Sunday offering updates about the event.
World Mission Sunday is the one Sunday in the year when the church comes together in support of mission.
Reverend Father Raymond D’Souza, director of Eden Garden and Children’s Home at Khuzama said in his homily that the first missionaries were the Apostles. The disciples were healing the sick in the name of Jesus and Jesus Christ himself asked them to rejoice for their names were written in heaven, Father D’Souza said.

The church leader called upon the faithful to bring people closer to God through prayer, love and selfless service. He asked the faithful to give generously, cheerfully and joyfully. If they do so God will reward them in hundredfold in return, they were told. Jesus has promised to his disciples to be with them till the end of the world, the speaker added.

Reading the Word of God, confessions, and communions were some of the highlights of the daylong celebration of the sacred feast, the organisers informed.
